Puppies, Puppies.

Our puppies are unique in everyway. They are bred to have the strength, fierceness, and intelligence of a our purebred Turkish  Kangal (not Anatolian shepherd). One of the strongest dogs in the world with the strongest bite force than any other dog breed and with the intelligence that is truly unmatched. Our Kangal mother is the most loving, tender, protective and intuitive dog we have ever owned. She is lady in the house regardless of her size, yet a warrior when protecting against coyotes, and she herds, protects all the animals on the homestead. There are no words to describe how perfect she is. When she stands on her hind legs she's approx. 6 feet or more and she is still growing. Her level of empathy I personally have never seen in a dog, her ability to want to be your everything while being entirely independent and assured makes her one of a kind. With her infinite ability to love and her sheer brute strength, agility, and desire to defend makes her more than a dog, more than a pet, it makes her truly a priceless family member.

The father is a Maremma/ Great  Pyrenees. How to describe our sweet Koa. Ever seen a romance movie, and the girl looks at the charming lead actor and instantly discovers she's in love.. and stares at him with a look every woman wishes to see her husband give on her wedding day? That look!!! --- well Koa looks at you with those eyes.. he is love wrapped within a fuzy 150lbs. With a bark to a scare a bear but heart to melt a scourge. He will defend you at all costs and love you with every breath he takes. He is gentle with children and small animals but will take on any predator or intruder to defend his family if required of him and this is just instinctive.

Andra my sweet girl is Kangal and Great Pyrenees. She is a truly an angel that is has motherly instinct and with strong stature and body weight. She has great instincts and melts your heart. She came from a litter of 10 and I think she was the bestest puppy from her pack and I am so lucky to call her my baby girl.. Or better yet my BIG MAMA.

Seems like a long intro for three dogs I'm not selling... But here is the thing, anyone can sell you a perfect pedigree, kava is perfect to all standards of a Turkish kangal, her mother, father, grandfather are some of the most outstanding specimens you could ever see of kangals... she came from a litter of 9 and there was only one like her, with her temperament, her emotional intelligence and her gentle ferocity. Koa came from a litter of 10 he was the unwanted because of his eye patch marking and I lucked out because they say "angels will stand out" and he surely does. So I am describing the parents because even at a tender age our puppies are manifesting the best of both our dogs. It's as though God said "ONLY THE GOOD" in our litter of 7 and litter of 11.

Please read every puppy description and read the following links below they are very important!

kANGALS

Kangal

I see all over the internet "Kangal puppies for sale" especially in Canada. The only problem is they are all mixes. I haven't seen one true Kangal puppy for sale. There are many dogs that look like a Kangal but are not! So someone will sell you a puppy saying they are half Kangal and they simply are ZERO Kangal. So even if you decide not to buy from me, please ensure you buy from someone who has Kangals from Kangal City Turkey.  If you want a pure Kangal I can give you happily the name of 4 breeders, two in Canada, 2 in Turkey.

Kangal Females:   Weight:  40kg-50kgs    Height: 63-73cm

Kangal Males:    Weight:  48kgs- 60kgs    Height: 70-80cm

The females are the protectors and fighters. Male and female roles are reversed in Kangal world hence why females are prize possessions.  These dogs make great house pets because they are protective and conscientious of their space. They are extremely loyal, and loving while independent, resulting in zero separation anxiety. They are highly intelligent making them extremely easy to train with a firm and respectful training method. (Kangals never forget so never abuse your kangal or they will never bond with you.) They need 2 grooming's yearly at best when they switch from their winter to summer coat and vica versa. (shedding is minimal during this stage but if your picky about ANY hair give them one good brush. During the switch over.

They are great with children and small pets, making them ideal as a family pet (nothing will hurt your loved one rest assured with a kangal around)

The were bred and designed to protect massive amounts of land in Turkey from bears, wolves, and mountain lions. There is nothing that a kangal cannot defeat. But they are massively overlook in Western society because they aren't your typical, pitbull, rotti, doberman, mastiff, corso etc..... But here is the thing Kangals can endure extreme temperatures hot and cold making them fantastic outdoor gaurd /livestock dogs for Canada. They are extremely dedicated to their job and they  know how to read a situation better than all the other breeds, so random or unnecessary aggression is never a concern. They form bonds that are unique with their master (be prepared that one person in the home or office will be their "Master" even if they accept everyone else as part of their pack).

Kangals and Anatolian Sheppards ARE NOT THE SAME!! They are entirely different in the ways the that matter most. Any one who tells you they are the same has zero respect for either breed and is a scammer!!!! They are so different especially in personality and temperament. Kangal also have distinct feature the bridge of the nose to the forehead is seamless, it is the same as a wolf, the mouth is not wide like the Anatolian, they are not bulky and massive like the Anatolian or Turkish mastiff mixes that get knocked off as kangals. Truth be told I get REALLY REALLY angry when I see people sell fake kangals at top dollar or any amount actually and deceive people... because a true Kangal is one of the most majestic and faithful and loving animals you could ever own. They capture your heart and soul and bond with you in a way that is incomparable and most people will not know that because they got sold a dog that looks like it but doesn't posses the true Kangal blood and instincts. I go on Kijiji all the time and I just want to tell some people off!! OHHH and never believe that a Kangal can be brindle, white, or have long hair!!!

Require minimal exercise unlike other breeds. They prefer to be in a calm and peaceful environment and their presence ensures that happens.

They have a keen sense of smell and can track exceptionally well.

If a house pet they don't enjoy fetching and playing like that. They enjoy more going for walks or chasing after you on a run. Just take them for a walk daily and give them time of attention.

Kangals keep growing until two years old and are still considered a puppy until three years old.

Bite Force: 743psi

Maremma/ Great  Pyrenees

Maremma

Maremma / Great  Pyrenees Females:   Weight:  30kg-40kgs    Height: 64-70cm

Maremma / Great  Pyrenees Males:    Weight:  35kgs- 45kgs    Height: 65-73cm

Amazing livestock and guardian dogs. They really love to patrol their property line and take care of animals and the land. They also make great house pets but do require more exercise than a kangal. I have seen online that Maremma / Great Pyrenees are massive shedders but I personally have not encountered that. They need some massive grooming in the spring when they shed their winter coat. They don't mind laying back and being a calm dog but give them a chance to play with you and their world lights up. They are easily trained and extremely loyal. They are sensitive souls which means training is most effective with positivity and minimal MINIMAL negative correction. (Negative correction should only be used when training them on their property lines. (sound or vibration collar suitable)

They keep growing until two years old and are still considered a puppy until two years old.

Bite Force: 400 +psi

They do need daily exercise and some degree of mental stimulation. (If a house pet train them new tricks they will love the task to learn something new)

Training

Training

Personal Training:   We recommend that you do one thing before all else. Take moment before you a buy puppy like ours and really reflect on who you are as a person. Because these dogs will challenge weakness, they will sense a lack of leadership and take full reigns because that's their job. They are going to try to fill all the areas in your life that you are not stepping into. They do not take kindly to false leadership, and what I mean by that is:

You cannot beat them into surrendering, you cannot negatively force them into submission or the omega role. They will die before they give respect or give the alpha role to someone unworthy. So love them, in their puppy stage give them positive correction and say no firmly (tone of disapproval- negative tones actually effect them-- NO SCREAMING). Give them love, hug them and watch that unconditional bond develop. These dogs learn based on repetition and seeing what makes you happy.

Advance K9 Training:   A good guard dog can range from $20k -$150k.  One pup was sold for $230,000USD so having an animal that is trained to defend and protect is not some small feat. It is extensive training and time to ensure you can rest peacefully knowing you have an animal that can do more than an 2 armed guards. We send out puppies out for training as soon as they turn 9 weeks old and receive extensive training to meet the highest standards of K9 training. This option is ideal for estate owners, private properties (including corporate facilities) who need a dog that succeed in any situation. Keep in mind that training is maintain with proper handling.. Do NOT mis-train your dog and then blame the training.

I do not sell you a puppy and disappear… if you never had a breed like this I offer to help to train the puppy and you can text me as often as you need. If you need me to make a house visit or two to train you so you can train the puppy properly I’m more than happy to do that!!

Key pointers to remember

1. Do not beat, scream or be aggressive with your puppy. I cannot stress this enough!!! These breeds of dogs take aggression very seriously and it deeply effects their emotions which can lead to them breaking their bond with you, resenting you and either retaliating and getting aggressive, or suffer from severe anxiety or depression.

2. They learn with love. Unlike other breeds that force might be used to correct and train a dog that DOES NOT work with this breed. Instead be patient, shower them with love every time they do something you like. No matter how tiny the act whether commanded or not. EXAMPLE: early stages your walking and your puppy sits even to scratch their neck you immediately say "Sit" and then pat their head and in a happy tone say "good {puppy's name} sit sit sit" They strive to make you happy so the sooner you praise them for the actions you want the quicker they will learn them. I cannot stress enough- that if you are an impatient person, who gets easily worked up and angry you should not have a pet. You need to learn to control yourself before you try to control another living thing. I will not sell my puppies to people who are impatient, careless or show any signs of misdirected anger. These puppies are my everything and they are highly highly intelligent so if they are misbehaving - it is not them, its the trainer.

3. When the puppy does something that you do no approve of, in a calm but firm and disappointing voice say "NO". This change in tone and attitude will be enough to affect your puppy's emotion and seek to make you happy again. That is why showing your love is vital. As human's we get deeply impacted when someone we love tells us they are disappointed in us and we eagerly try to make it up to them... However if someone who always rude, distant, cold tells us the same words it doesn't effect us.. Well these puppied respond the exact same way. If the puppy is fixated for even a small second grab them by the loose skin on the back of their necks ever so lightly the same way the mother dog would and this will bring them back to submission mode.

4. If you are buying this puppy as an indoor house pet.. PLEASE PLEASE do not let them on the furniture. These animals claim areas, so let them sleep on a dog bed, on the floor but not up on the furniture.

5. You’re the Alpha, not them! But respect is earned and so is the alpha role; so as I always suggest forget about dominating and achieve to be the mother role as early on. If you earn their love, you earn their respect and if you earn their respect you can claim the role of leader of the pack.

6. Trust exercise- People always ask “How do I know if my puppy feels safe or trusts me? How do I know that I have earned Mama position?” Simple! If you call your puppy and they come crashing into your legs.. or they come up to you and they press against you that means they trust you. BUT however if they come to you and they stop even a few inches away or a foot away you have done something to break the trust. That means they feel they need to keep some distance from you. That is an easy fix but again requires patience.

7. Leash training: I suggest a body harness… When your puppy walks praise them even if it is one step.. always remain calm, and relax your body even if they are resisting. Any sings of tension will worsen their response. Do not let you puppy loose and play the catching game with them.. that’s the worse introduction to recall training. So from week 8 to 10 whenever you take them out you take them on a leash with enough slack that they think they are free (3 foot leash or so) and when you call them praise them when they come and press them against your legs so they learn that is a safe place. If they at first don’t come when you call, reduce the length of the leash even if they tug. Reduce the leash length bit by bit until they are next to you while repeatedly and in a calm tone saying “come” until they are right next to you and then as soon as they are next to you.. you praise them abundantly.

8. If buying as a farm dog. DO NOT EVER EVER EVER play with your puppy around your animals. Even if you have other dogs they do not get to play when they are in working zones. Play time is over as soon as they are in the perimeter of the animals. I normally don’t allow puppy play time after 10 weeks they go into full training mode. That means while I am working they are at my side with a waist leash, I train them to walk on my non-dominate side (left) and to sit when I stop moving. By weeks 14 and 15 I stop praising them for performing the task so they no longer seek acknowledgement for performing that task. If you are buying as a working dog, it should be in work more at least 70% of the day.

9. MOST IMPORTANT—everyone needs to be on the same page when it comes to training, reinforcing behaviors and correcting bad behaviors. I have seen people completely ruin their puppy because someone was lazy with training or wanted to train the puppy differently. Your house hold must have their rules without any wavering.

Will a puppy make a mistake here and there … YES!!!! But lovingly and patiently correct them and train them.

NOW- again I repeat.. IF YOU NEED ANY ADVICE PLEASE TEXT ME (705-888-5032) !!! It is impossible to give full training techniques on here but any questions you have I will answer no matter the length of time you have had the puppy. You become an extension of my family and I will always be a text message away.

Ears

Ears

Cropping:   I always hear the sentence "Cropping is animal cruelty" in almost all realms I would agree but I think people should educate themselves before judging. Kangal dogs have their ears cropped for many reasons and all for their benefit. This isn't like esthetics as done with Dobermans and typical breeds to make them intimidating. Kangal dogs have adorable floppy ears (SUPER CUTE) but in the extreme temperatures of Turkey they would experience frost bite easily on their ears.. So to prevent them the pain and potential health problems they cropped their ears which resulted in a healthier and stronger dog. Since they do attack predators wolfs, bears, coyotes, etc having long floppy ears is HIGHLY dangerous for the Kangal. This makes them open to getting severely injured during a fight. So cropping the ears is in fact for their betterment and nothing to do with esthetics.

If you are keeping a puppy as a house pet, to have and love as the best friend you could ever have then ear cropping is TOTALLY not needed. You will fall in love with their floppy ears just as much as their souls. Ear cropping is only for those wanting an outdoor guard dog.

Breeding & Handling

Breeding & Hadling

Breeding: We do not mind if you breed our puppies. They are after all yours and we understand you want to have a baby from your baby when the time is right. When is that time? You should never let your female get pregnant before 2 years old. A female should only be bred max once a year and shouldn't be bred past 5 years old.

Spaying and
Neutering: You should also wait until your puppy is 18 months old before fixing them. This is my personal preference. This helps them develop their weight and full size properly.

Handling: Please visit Ontario Canada's Standards for dogs kept outside. We do not condone dogs being chained up (tethered). We have seen many dog owners who failed to train their dog and therefore kept their dog tethered for its entire life. Please treat your puppy with love and care, even if buying it as a working dog.

We will confiscate our puppy and report the owner if we discover our puppy is being abused or used for illegal activities. If you are harming, endangering, beating or starving the puppy that counts as abuse. If you are using our puppy for fights or mass breeding as in a puppy mill we will report it to the authorities and remove the puppy.

Grooming

GROOMING

We have been very lucky because our dogs shed very little. We do notice they shed the most in the spring time, which we we take them outside and do one massive brushing . We use this brush it works great. These breed of dog keeps their coats fairly clean and they actually aren't stinky.. Like my boxer after playing outside smells yucky but these dog just smell like grass and sunshine all the time. THE ONLY THING I suggest is if your dog is an outdoor dog, and they will be around other animal feces, I would suggest you inspect them throughly that they aren't getting a rash or ringworm. If you need at quick at home treatment for ringworm.. I have a natural potion I make that gets rid of it almost instantly.
